On the nature of peace

The peace we seek
The peace which this world needs
Is not the peace of the still pool
It is the peace of the flowing river

Remember this, friend, when you feel reality swirl around you

The nature of life is change
But be comforted; the stuff of our spirit is like water
And change is its mother tongue

Peace is found not once-for-all
It cannot be grasped
It is found in the moment that we allow ourselves to float downriver
Not when we manage to stand ourselves against the current

So, when you close your eyes
Imagine your spirit flowing around you
Accept its shape in every moment, with every breath
And drink in peace, sip by sip.
